Chris Reichert and Rob Pyle Score Huge NEETS Victories at Grandview!

Sun and then rain set the stage for the popular NEETS "GranDuro" at Grandview Speedway on Sunday. With $1000 on the line for the event winners the show was almost guaranteed to be unforgettable. When it was all said and done Chris Reichert and Rob Pyle came out on top with two huge victories.

Art Kulik sat on the pole for the start of the 150-lap "Dirty Pup" Four Cylinder GranDuro event. At the drop of the green, it was Larry Spencer who would charge out to the front, but it was short-lived as Lance Hoch passed Spencer for the lead.

With Mike Wahl in second and Hoch's teammate, Gary Grim and Steve Todorow battling for third, Hoch kept up the pace, until he began to slow just a bit, which opened the door for Todorow to blast into the top spot. Todorow began to have troubles of his own, when his mount began to smoke. He was forced to make a pit stop, which put Wahl into the lead.

With rain beginning to fall on the speedway, the closing laps would be interesting as cars had to slow down to avoid spinning out. And, with a fast approaching Rob Pyle, there was no room for error, but Wahl had to make an unscheduled trip into the pits, giving Pyle the top honors as he sailed to his first NEETS victory of the season followed by Phil Levering, Pete Wharton, Art Kulik and Gary Grim.

The "Dirty Dogs" 150-lap Savage 61 Dodge 6/8-Cylinder event began with a very slippery start for pole sitter Jamie Presley. With cars sliding all over the track, Presley and Kevin Mandic swapped the top spot several times before Mandic prevailed and began to put distance between himself and the rest of the pack.

Howie Bott and Brian Yelk were battling for second when Yelk made an exit to the infield and Mandic spun with a flat tire, giving Bott the lead.

The red flag was displayed for Richard Petey when his machine broke an axle in turn three, and when racing resumed Bott continued out front.

Chris Reichert slipped into the second position with Shawn Naftzinger not far behind. Disaster struck Bott in the closing laps as he was trying to avoid spinning cars that sent him into a car that was left on the front stretch, which ended his day.

Reichert went on to take the victory and the $1,000 payout followed by Shawn Naftzinger, Justin Steigerwalt, Tim Pauch and Jason Brown.
