Wilson and Eidem Debut in Victory Lane, Pyle Celebrates Second Win with NEETS at Grandview Speedway!

The third NEETS Enduro event of the season at Grandview Speeedway kicked off under cloudy skies which provided for a warm yet comfortable day of racing Sunday, perfect for an enduro! A brief passing shower cooled things off during the Small Car enduro, however the unexpected shower did not rain on their parade.

A very exciting 4 cylinder race started off with Art Kulik in the pole position, but it would be Lance Hoch who would lead the first lap. It wasn't long before Phil Levering crept into second spot with Dave Bentley Sr. and Steve Todorow close behind.

Bentley made the pass on Levering and then set his sights onto Hoch, who began to show signs of slowing down. Bentley blasted around Hoch taking Todorow with him, leaving Levering in third and Hoch in fourth, until both Hoch and Levering had to make pit stops. This set up a terrific battle between Bentley and Todorow who began to swap each positions with each other for the top spot, until a flip over of Mike Wahl's machine brought out the red flag giving drivers a little rest between battles.

With Wahl unhurt and removed from his car, racing resumed with Todorow out front, Bently second and Steve Wilson now moving up to third.

Disaster struck for Bently when a lapped car proved to be a factor in the ferocious battle between the top three as Bentley hit the wall in turn two, giving Wilson the top spot. This ensued another battle between Wilson and Todorow swapping the lead back and forth when a light rain began to fall making the track a bit slick with moisture.

It was unclear who would hit the finish line first with both cars sliding and racing hard, but it would be Wilson who would prevail and take his first career win with NEETS over Steve Todorow by less than a second, Dave Bentley Sr., Phil Levering and Bill Nickerson.

With 38 hungry competitors behind pole sitter Darrel Herman, it would be another great battle up until the checkered flag flew. Bob Kulik blasted off right from the start and took an early lead setting a blistering pace for the rest of the field.

Carl Ruppert was a distant second when Kulik had help getting spun around in turn four, giving Rupert the top spot with Pat Hires not far behind.

With Rupert making an unscheduled pit stop, Hires grabbed the lead with Duane Eidem right on his bumper. Hires bobbled a bit giving Eidem the chance to get ahead, but not for long as Hires battled back into the lead once again. A hard hit into the front stretch wall for Pat's brother Mike, brought out the red flag to remove him from the car. Racing resumed once again with Hires in the lead until he made a beeline into the infield where his car expired.

Being two laps ahead of the rest of the field, Eidem hit cruise control and sailed his way into victory lane followed by Howie "Dr Destruction" Bott, Shawn Naftzinger, Jerry Arms and Steve Haegle.

Carrie Pyle started from the pole position in a race that would prove to be full of bumps and bruises for the ladies. Carrie took an early lead when Jen Levan spun Lori Groff up and onto the guardrail in turns three and four. However, the red flag wasn't displayed until Levan, losing conrol of her mount, slammed into the backstretch wall nearly flipping over. Levan climbed out under her own power and racing resumed with Pyle still in the lead with Jen "Punchy" Schwager in a distant second.

As the laps winded down, Linsey Rummel passed Schwager for second but ran out of time as Pyle took the checkers followed by Rummel, Schwager, Amy Sacks and Tiffany Collis.
