What is NEETS?
So, you have some questions about NEETS huh? Well, I'm here to answer a few of the most common ones I usually hear. First off, I'm Joe Cutri, series promoter, photographer, and webmaster! Feel free to ask me anything you may ever want to know about NEETS! Joe@neetsracing.com
What is NEETS?
NEETS is an acronym for North East Enduro Tour Series. NEETS is an organization that promotes endurance racing at different venues across the North East United States, most commonly PA, NJ and NY. Endurance races consist of stock vehicles being raced with all stock components remaining in place for a distance of #00 laps, typically 100 or 200 laps.
Who is NEETS?
NEETS was originally created by Billy Bartley and officially given its name in 2003. Upon some recent changes in both personal life and career path, Billy sought out new ownership of the series in the early pre-season months of 2007. Once the racing season commenced, the series experienced a major transition from old to new management. Both myself, Joe Cutri, and my lovely fiancé, Erin Bartley, have stepped up to the plate and are in control of NEETS.
Although there has been some changes made, some faces remain the same. We have not replaced, and never will, both our chief starter and our beautiful Ms. NEETS…Matt Odwazny and Cindy Bott.
2007 proved to be a difficult year for the series regarding finding a dedicated full-time tech official. Late in the season, someone stepped up to the plate and accepted the responsibility and the duty of our official Tech Man position for 2008 and the future…Josh Oswald.
Although, everyone I have listed here is nobody without the most important element of NEETS…YOU! You the drivers and family members of NEETS make up who NEETS is. Without you, we are nothing more than your average series. NEETS does not belong to us or any one person in particular…NEETS belongs to the people who are a part of this great series. We are not here to turn a profit, any money earned becomes money spent on making this great series better for everyone.
We will run in circles just to keep you going in circles! (Or ovals…)
So WHO is NEETS?
Anyone who has ever competed in a NEETS event is a NEETS member. You don't sign up or get voted in, you are not elected or chosen, and you do not owe anything to be a part of this series. Furthermore, you can tell who is a NEETS member just by watching what they do. True NEETS members don't worry so much about the money they are winning, rather they care to see everyone finish the race. There are no teams, no one is better than anyone else, everyone is out on that track to have fun. NEETS puts the skills back into the driver's hands. Whether you are out there as a 10-year veteran or it is your first time racing an enduro, you should always have a smile on your face.
NEETS History - A brief version!
NEETS started racing under the touring aspect by visiting several different venues across the North East United States. In 2005, NEETS settled in at Mountain Speedway in Hazleton, PA, and remained there until the completion of the 2006 racing season. In 2007 the series moved to Mahoning Valley Speedway and raced a total of 8 races.
So, where does NEETS race now in 2008?
Well, that is a two part answer! One, we race on dirt at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA. Two, we race on asphalt at White Lake Speedway in White Lake, NY.
How do I build a NEETS Car?
NEETS is about STOCK enduro racing, we don't want to see full-blown race cars on the track. The best possible way to keep things fair to everyone and keep the playing field level is for us to mandate as close to stock racing as possible! Obviously, roll cages/bars and harnesses are not stock, therefore I have to describe our races as "as close to stock as possible". Go to our "Rules" page and begin by following the link according to which class you would fall under: Big Cars, Small Cars or TRUX. From there, you will need to perform safety modifications which typically include installing a roll bar, 4-point harnesses, removing glass and flammable carpet and cloth as such, installing chains or welds to the doors, chains to hold the bumpers, and of course your number!
Please follow all of the rules as closely as possible! If you have any questions, feel free to contact myself (Joe Cutri at 267-767-4923 or via email, joe@neetsracing.com) or our tech official (Josh Oswald, josh@neetsracing.com).
How do I find a NEETS race?
Well, hit "Back" on your browser! All of the important information regarding the series racing events such as dates, locations and start times can be found on our home page. There will be specially created "Info Pages" for each and every event which give the specifics.
What should I expect to get out of a NEETS race?
If you are a spectator:
You will see some of the best drivers navigating their way through a field of the best of the best enduro racers from across the North East racing to the front of an immense field of cars!
If you are a driver:
The most fun you'll ever have in the front seat of a car!
